Speaking as a volunteer who has been involved for a few months now,(initially thanks to Inspiral’s weekly drop-in sessions) Horners’ Plot has certainly helped me to keep active both mentally and physically, meet a lot of new friends and feel part of something ongoing and worthwhile. By volunteering in such a project, I have definitely found a sense of purpose and direction that I feared that I was losing whilst going through periods of burnout and depression.

A friend of mine recently mentioned that PLUS were looking for volunteers to help develop a garden project in the town centre and I agreed to join as I have a gardening background. It sounded like a fun idea and I would get the chance to meet new people and help the local community so I thought I would give it a go.

I am really glad that I did as I enjoy being part of the team that meets every Saturday to help push the project along. They are a very friendly bunch and the atmosphere is always relaxed and welcoming.
